This result came without captain and Woman of Steel winner Sinead Peach, with Lindsay Anfield’s side defying the odds to defend their title.

St Helen's had already lifted the both the League Leaders' Shield and the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup earlier in the season, with Matty Smith's side deemed heavy favourites.

York showed real determination after falling behind late on, lifting the Women's Super League trophy as 2024 Woman of Steel winner George Hetherington produced an incredible performance.
