YORK Knights fan favourite Jack Teanby will extend his stay with the club into a seventh season.

The powerful prop, known for his impact from the bench, has scored 11 times in 135 appearances since his arrival from Dewsbury Rams in 2019.

He has been part of some memorable moments at York in that time, including their run to the 2021 AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final at Wembley, in which they ultimately fell short to Featherstone Rovers in the trophy-crowning match.

Internationally, Teanby has three Scotland caps to his name and featured against both Australia and Fiji in the World Cup. He also turned out for the Bravehearts in last month’s defeat to Ireland at Gateshead.

Returning from a shoulder injury that cut his 2023 season short, the popular forward enjoyed his most prolific season at the Knights this year.

His four tries included efforts against play-off chasers Featherstone Rovers and Sheffield Eagles – the former helping York record their first league win at the Millennium Stadium in 67 years.

Head coach Mark Applegarth is looking forward to working with Teanby again in 2025, enthusing: "Jack Teanby is a bit of a club legend now.

"He's a massive player for the club not only on it but off it as well. He’s much loved by the York fans groups as well. I’m really looking forward to working with him again.

"The back end of the year was a tough one in terms of him probably not playing every game he wanted to play. I know he’s responded well to that and he’ll come back bigger, faster, and stronger than ever.

"He’s going to be a massive part of our pack. He’s got some really good punch about him and he’s got some really good impact, so I’m really looking forward to working with him again. I’m really glad he’s signed up."
