Conor Fitzsimmons has signed a one-year contract extension with the York Knights.
Fitzsimmons will enter a third season with York after penning a new deal with the Knights, becoming the latest player to extend their stay in North Yorkshire.
The 26-year-old forward initially joined York from Workington Town in 2023, going on to accumulate 53 appearances and scoring nine tries in that time.
He had started his career with Betfred Super League side Castleford Tigers, where he would manage two appearances, before a spell with Newcastle Thunder, producing seven tries in 25 appearances.
Fitzsimmons then made the move to Workington where he made 50 appearances in two seasons with Town.
The forward did find game time limited towards the end of the 2024 season as York finished their season in fourth position and reached the Betfred Championship play-off semi-finals, before falling short against Wakefield Trinity.
Knights Head Coach Mark Applegarth was delighted to retain Fitzsimmons’ services, saying: “I’m really happy we’ve got Fitzy over the line for next year.
“He showed glimpses of what he can do last year, and the challenge for him this year is to do it on a consistent basis and really earn that spot in the team.”
He becomes the latest player to extend their stay with the Knights, joining fellow prop Jack Teanby, along with new additions Joe Law, Jacob Gannon, Jacques O’Neill, Jude Ferreira, Kieran Buchanan, James Farrar and Paul McShane.
