FORMER New Earswick All Blacks junior Pat Smith shone as his Hull reserves side saw off their York City Knights counterparts 56-0 in a friendly.
Smith, older brother of Knights’ scholarship graduate Eddie Smith, who also played, stood out at hooker and half-back in an excellent performance from a Hull team featuring several players in their Super League squad.
The youthful Knights, who also featured teenage trialists Ben Johnson and Liam Hogan, had a tough night at the office.
However, props John Fallon and Mark Falkingham and hookers Chris Williams and Luke Helliwell did well in their attempts to win call-ups to York’s first team for Sunday’s Northern Rail Cup match at home to London Skolars.
