YORK City Knights boss Mick Cook says he is not envious at the financial clout enjoyed by some National League One rivals.

Tomorrow's visitors, Widnes, brought in three players from Wigan this week, including two-time Super League top try-scorer Dennis Moran.

Asked if he would like to be able to do the same, Cook said: "It's not a case of that.

"We knew the situation at the start of the season and we knew the budget and for the club to stay afloat we have to stay within the budget.

"A bit more cash would obviously go down well but it's not available and we've got to deal with what we've got. It would be nice to be able to take someone like Dennis Moran but it's not realistic to us.

He added: "It's not helped that a lot of the players we've signed have suffered long-term injuries and two have retired.

"It's difficult to bring players in because there are not that many about and we haven't got a big wedge of cash.

"But I'm sure with the players we've got, if we play well and get a few of them back, we will win games."

One of those players will come back tomorrow centre Dan Potter. The team captain is recovering from a broken thumb and still hasn't got 100 per cent movement, but says he will "be able to do a job" against his former club.

He is likely to start on the bench, alongside Mark Blanchard, who replaces the latest crock, Craig Farrell. Jon Liddell should be fit, but Phil Hasty is again not included.

Widnes boss Steve McCormack has several players back from injury, including half-back Ian Watson and veterans Mick Cassidy and Terry O'Connor. He adds the three newcomers half-back Moran and forwards Jordan James and Oliver Wilkes to an 18-man squad.

Daryl Cardiss and Aaron Summers are set for minor surgery and join Dave Allen and Danny Heaton as absentees.
