YORK City Knights’ hopes of uniting Neil Thorman with brother Chris at Huntington Stadium have ended – although thoughts have turned to bringing in another new half-back.

The Knights were favourites to land the services of the youngest Thorman brother on his return to England from a spell playing in France.

But it depended on him landing a job in the North and instead he will be moving to London, where he is now likely to team up with middle brother Paul Thorman at the Knights’ Championship One rivals London Skolars.

The Press understands the Knights now have eyes on another new playmaker but the club’s general manager, Ian Wilson, said no particularly player had as yet been singled out.

“Nobody has been identified but we are on the lookout for quality additions,” he said. “If the right player becomes available we would look at what we could do.”

Half-back has been pinpointed as an area to strengthen, as has centre.

However, the Knights have also been unfortunate in their plans to bring three-quarter Larsen Marabe on loan from Featherstone. There has still been no further development in the move as red tape due to the Papua New Guinea international’s visa threatens to prevent the switch happening at all.

The Knights also do not envisage a speedy return to Huntington Stadium of dual-registered duo Jordan Thompson and John Davies, as the youngsters have recently been regulars in parent club Castleford’s Super League match-day squad.

Wilson said: “Cas have a lot of injuries at the moment and those two players are involved in the first-team set-up. Jordan has been playing virtually every week recently and John’s been 18th man a number of times.

“If they get a few players back there might be a few opportunities for us.”
