YORK City Knights have not ruled out bringing big Brett Waller back in time for the Championship One play-offs – but want a second opinion on his knee first.

The former Skirlaugh prop forward – the leading front-rower in the Press/Northern Player of the Year standings – has not played since limping out of the Knights’ loss at Hunslet four weeks ago.

He has been given the all-clear by one doctor to resume training but the knee is reportedly still giving him problems, so the club want him to have an MRI scan first.

Knights boss Dave Woods explained: “We’re not totally happy with what he’s been told and we want to get it checked properly. The same hospital told Jon Fallon he was okay and he wasn’t.”

He added: “If he’s back for the semi-finals, then great. If not, he’ll have a good pre-season and hopefully come back bigger and better.”

Fellow prop Fallon needs major surgery on a knee which is expected to rule him out of next season.
