LATE tries condemned York City Knights reserves to a 34-6 defeat to Featherstone in the reserve championship last night.
The Knights took the lead through New Earswick All Blacks product Ben Dent, Paul Stamp goaling, and were 6-4 ahead at half-time.
However, Rovers were the better side and, while they led by only 10-6 for much of the second half having taken the lead soon after the restart, they surged clear in the final quarter, the last try coming with the last play of the game.
It was not the best all-round show from Mick Ramsden’s young Knights, but Stamp worked hard, replacement hooker Kris Brining also did well, and prop Josh Mortimer stood out up front.
