YORK City Knights’ opening game of the 2012 season on Sunday has fallen foul of the weather.
The club have confirmed that the Northern Rail Cup match against Swinton Lions at Huntington Stadium has been postponed due to snow, ice and a frozen pitch, and has been put back to Thursday, February 23, kicking off at 8pm.
The pitch is currently covered in about four inches of snow, and with temperatures due to stay around the freezing mark until Sunday, there is no chance of it being playable come kick-off.
