Popular local band ‘The Vaults’ are soon to be celebrating their ten year anniversary.

If you’re a lover of old classics and beer, it’s certainly something to consider; anything from pub festivals, to having them perform at your wedding.

The Vaults have also had many gigs in Louth and our very own Grimsby, having been named suggestively the most popular local band by Lincs FM radio station.

Many people will agree that there’s nothing quite like live music to feed the soul; why would anyone sit at home with Spotify blasting the same overplayed, modern music when you can be in such a fun environment?

Not only does it bring people together, it improves the mental health of those surrounded by it; according to The Guardian, a review of 26 studies conducted across several countries (including the UK) has found that music may provide a clinically significant boost to mental health.

The group of musicians, for 10 consecutive years, have played at the Adam and Eve for the CALM charity event in Wragby, a campaign against living miserably; Greg Cochran, the drummer of the band, said, “It is an important cause that is close to our hearts.”

So, what is the impact of the power of music?

Well, according to Big Issue, 89% said live music concerts, have a positive effect on their mental health; however, the spiraling cost-of-living crisis has prevented 68% from attending as many gigs as they previously did.

This is why it is so important for local pubs and restaurants to provide events like this, it can make a difference that most people are not even aware of; we all love watching videos of concerts and singers performing online but living in the moment and being surrounded by the music is something else entirely.

Guitarist, Daryl Griss, said, “We try to cover songs that we think will be known and popular.”

In fact, their gigs are loved so much by locals that Spen said, “We have groups of people who arrange lifts and a minibus to come and see us, so hopefully we are doing something right!”

A clear gesture that shows how much the band brings people closer.

The members, who have grown a following and local fan base talk about how they have grown over these ten years: Daryl Griss mentioned, “I joined the band about five years ago when the old guitarist moved away.”

Bassist, David Spencer (Spen), said, “I think at that point we opened up to even more song ideas to cover, as we had additional input.”

Fan of the cover band, Sara Downing, said “The Vaults are an amazing group of friendly people, their dedication to raising money for CALM is second to none and they’re amazing at what they do!”

The group, loved by the local community, has built up a following of over 600 people on Facebook and try their best to keep the setlist reasonably fresh so that people will come back to see them again.
